About

The Northern Star is a journal of democracy. Our aim is that the people of all nations take control of their states. It was founded by Philip Cunliffe, George Hoare, Lee Jones and Peter Ramsay with help from Su Karey.

The Northern Star is named after the Chartist newspaper published in Leeds by Feargus O’Connor between 1837 and 1852. That newspaper promoted the cause of the People’s Charter of 1838, the programme of the world’s first mass movement for democracy.
